Headteacher Communication

Friday 13th June 2025

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a very positive start back to our final half term of the school year. Our older years are approaching the end of their external examinations, and we wish them an enjoyable summer and all the best of luck for their results in August. Students in younger years have already begun their internal exams and assessments with their hall based exams starting over the next fortnight: we hope the revision is proving to pay off.

This Half Term
As we have shared in previous letters, we have a busy final five weeks ahead. Alongside the exams and assessments referenced above, we also have many school events to look forward to. We very much look forward to celebrating both Year 11 and Year 13’s achievements at their Record of Achievement ceremonies on Friday 27 June 2025 and Friday 11 July 2025 respectively. As they leave, our new Year 7s (current Year 6) join us for their transition event on Friday 4 July.

We have many trips planned. Our Year 7s had a fabulous time at Abernant on their adventure weekend last week and our Year 9s will be heading across the Channel on Wednesday 9 July 2025 for their cultural visit to France. In our final week, along with other exciting events such as our sports days and talent show, many of our students will be enjoying their reward trips to the theme parks on Tuesday 15 July 2025 too - so much to look forward to!

Healthy Eating in Schools Consultation
All schools in Wales (students, staff and families) have been asked to partake in a consultation regarding food served in their canteens and cafes. Wales leads the UK in providing free school meals to all primary school children. This important step helps tackle child poverty and hunger, supports learners to achieve, and contributes towards improved health, making a real difference in schools and communities across Wales. At a secondary level, it is also crucial that the food served in school is nutritious and affordable whilst offering a wide range of options and cuisines too.   Please find here the questionnaire link for the Welsh Government's draft Healthy Eating in Schools Consultation.

Road Safety
As part of an ongoing campaign to improve road safety in our community, members of the St. Julians and Beechwood Community Action Group are asking parents and students to complete a short survey. The goal is to gather valuable insights and feedback on how our children get to school and to improve traffic calming measures, ensure clear signage, and develop safer crossing points, during their journeys to and from school. If you would like to contribute your views, please use the links below to complete the survey:

Uniform Donations
As we shared in our previous letter, we are asking all students and their families to donate any unwanted uniform items to the school. These can then be regifted to other students in need of school-wear or be used as spare stock for daily use. We are particularly in need of trousers and ties.  Please can all items be handed in to Student Reception.

And finally…
Please contact the school if you have any general queries. The school phone lines are open from 0800 to 1600 (1530 on Fridays) on 01633 224490 or email on info@stjuliansschool.co.uk. For more specific queries related to your child, you may contact your child’s progress leader (email addresses are on the school website). Updates are also posted on our Instagram and X accounts: @stjuliansschool

Yours faithfully,
