Students will be eligible for a Free School Meal and a School Essentials Grant if parents/carers are in receipt of one of the following benefits:

• Income Support or Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
• Income Related Employment Support Allowance
• Child Tax Credit (the annual income must be less than £16,190 for the household)

In a field of 26, Isaac finished in 7th place and was the 2nd British athlete home, out of 5.

Following his success, British triathlon have confirmed Isaac has automatically qualified for the 2026 World championships in Abu Dhabi.

Congratulations to Eleri Davies, Evie Forrest and Millie Forrest on achieving 5th place in the Elite 10 –14 Girls Team competition last weekend.
Following success in the Welsh Championships and Central Zonal finals, the team progressed into the finals representing St Julian’s school and Wales.
Against stiff competition, the girls performed brilliantly, and we are very proud of their final placing in the British Championships.

Congratulations also to Lucas Salvage on his selection for the Welsh Athletics team, competing in the 2025 SIAB Cross country International in Falkirk later this month.

Well done to the Y11 boys 5-a-side football team who won the South East Wales tournament yesterday held at Lliswerry High School.

And finally but not least, congratulations to Izabella-Eve Bishton on being selected to represent Wales in the first Womens Youth Darts World Championships in Gibraltar, later this year. Izabella will be competing in the Under-16 Girls category.
 

This charity supports many worthwhile projects here in the UK and all around the world. This year the charity is celebrating 40 years of helping communities. All donations are greatly appreciated. A traditional Eisteddfod will be held on that day for Year 7, but there is also an opportunity for everyone to celebrate our National day by entering the ‘off stage’ competitions that have been set by all subjects. The details of the competitions can be found below. Your subject teachers will give you more details about their competitions and the dates for completion.

 
Try to enter as many competitions as possible and ensure that your name and form is clearly printed on your work.
Each entry will be awarded 1 point on Classcharts, with winning entries earning 10 points, 2nd place 5 points, and 3rd place 3 points.

Last weekend, 5 students from St Julian’s represented Wales in the British Schools Central Zone Finals. All the trampolinists performed really well against strong competition. Molly Watkins finished 13th in the Year 10-14 Intermediate competition, Evie Forrest finished 7th in the Year 10-14 Elite competition and Freya Davies finished 16th in the Year 7-9 Intermediate competition. 
Millie Forrest, Evie Forrest and Eleri Davies competed in the Year 10-14 Elite Team competition, finishing 2nd. They have now qualified for the British Schools finals in March.
Well done to all the girls and good luck to Evie, Millie and Eleri in the Finals!

 They will be representing Welsh Schools, following outstanding performances in the Welsh Schools Trampolining Championships in Cardiff last weekend.

Evie Forrest, Freya Davies and Molly Watkins qualified as Individual entrants, and Evie Forrest, Millie Forrest and Eleri Davies have qualified for the Elite Team competition.

The girls will now have the opportunity to represent Newport County in the new year against other Welsh schools, as well as schools from the South West of England who will also represent EFL clubs such as Swansea City, Cardiff City and Bristol City.

Students and families will have the opportunity to meet with department staff to discuss courses and Post 16 options.

Uniform

Uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school and setting an appropriate tone. It also gives students a sense of community and belonging. It is, therefore, important that students adhere to and respect our rules on school uniform.

Following on from the valiant efforts of the majority of our students on improving uniform standards this year, it is essential we continue this positive trend.

The Governing Body has made the decision to introduce mandatory black tights if students choose to wear a skirt to school from Monday 6th January 2025. Next half term (4th November - 20th December) black tights remain an optional item: staff will be reminding students of the planned change for the spring term. This will be reviewed again in the first half of the summer term.

At St Julian's School we have 56 different ethnicities and 52 different languages spoken. 

Cultural Day is a non-uniform day when students can come to school wearing their national dress or cultural clothing. Children can wear non-uniform to school if they do not have an item of cultural clothing/national dress.
