Well done to our Year 7/8/9 girls who represented St Julians at the Newport Live Football Festival this past week. Competing against other schools across Newport, the girls set the standard and put on a dominating display across the day, winning nine games whilst only drawing one and scoring 33 goals across the day, letting in only 2.
Another strong showing for our girls football provision at St Julian's, with our girls proving to be the standouts across the city.
Year 7 students and their families are invited to their first Progress Evening on Thursday 12th December from 15:15 to 18:15 in the school hall. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with all subject teachers and to discuss the progress made since joining us in September.
Please make sure you make appointments soon. Students and teachers will arrange times for meetings when in lessons this fortnight.
We look forward to seeing you all.

Chartwells, our school meal provider, has informed the council that the cost of all school meals will be rising from the start of the new term in 2025. From January, school meals at the Newport secondary schools that use Chartwells as caterers will be increasing by 18 pence per meal, from £2.95 to £3.13. The increase will not affect the parents and carers of students who receive free school meals.
Chartwells recognises this will be an added financial pressure on parents and carers, and we would encourage you to check whether you might be entitled to free school meals, by following this link to Newport City Council’s website.
It is also worth noting that families who are eligible for free school meals can also apply for additional help with school costs. You will be able to find out more by following this link to Newport City Council’s website.
Well done to our to Year 7/8 girls who represented St Julian's at the Utilita Girls Cup this past week. Competing against other local schools in a 7-side tournament, the girls eased through the group stage, winning three games and drawing one, whilst scoring ten goals without conceding any. They then went on to the semi-final where they comfortably beat Croesyceiliog 2-0, before rounding off the day with a final victory over St Albans 2-0 to be crowned the winners of the tournament.
The girls will now have the opportunity to represent Newport County in the new year against other Welsh schools, as well as schools from the South West of England who will also represent EFL clubs such as Swansea City, Cardiff City and Bristol City.
Year 12 & Year 13 students and their families have a Progress Evening on Thursday 28th November from 15:15 to 18:15 to meet with all A Level and L3 BTEC subject teachers.
Please make sure you make appointments soon. Students and teachers will arrange times for meetings when in lessons this fortnight.
