St Julians School

Emergency Childcare Provision

17th December 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

Re.: Distance Learning Week - Monday 4th January to Friday 8th January

With reference to the announcement today that students will continue with distance learning from Monday 4th January to Friday 8th January, schools have been asked to provide childcare for key workers from Wednesday 6th January to Friday 8th January

Childcare should only be requested in the most exceptional of circumstances. It is a last resort for frontline key workers who have no other option available to them. Places are limited and targeted at students in Year 7 and Year 8.

In order to minimise contact and reduce the risk of transmission between individuals, students should only be eligible to attend school where:

  • both their parents are identified as critical workers and

  • where one or both parents are unable to work from home, and

  • where there is no other childcare available

In the case of single-parent households, students should only be eligible to attend school where that parent falls within the critical worker definition, and is unable to work from home, and has no other available childcare.

If you meet the criteria and need childcare provision from Wednesday 6th January to Friday 8th January, please phone the school on Monday 4th January 2021 between 0800 and 1600 to speak to a member of staff.

Yours faithfully

Mr. D. Curtis
