COVID-19 CASE IN YEAR 9 - Lateral Flow Test (LFD)

Dear Parent/Carer,

POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE IN YEAR 9

We have, unfortunately, been notified this morning of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in  Year 9. This was picked up via a Lateral Flow Test.

In line with guidance from Welsh Government, Environmental Health, and Newport City Council, in the event of a positive case in a “contact group”, i.e. a year group, then all students in the year group must self-isolate.

Please note - As this is the result of a positive Lateral Flow Test we are awaiting results from a PCR test to confirm the positive case. If this test comes back negative, all students in Year 9 will be able to return to school.

As soon as we have received the results of the PCR test we will notify you immediately. Until that point all Year 9 students must remain at home. Work will be set via google classrooms. Students should follow their timetable when accessing their online work.

If you have not picked up this message before your child has left for school we will send them home when they arrive.

The school remains open to all other students.

Yours faithfully

Mr. D. Curtis

Headteacher/Pennaeth
