St Julians School

Positive lfd result (year 8)

*Update - 13/07/2021*

Dear Parent/Carer,

POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE IN YEAR 8

Following the positive LFD Covid-19 test in Year 8 that we notified you of yesterday, we have now had confirmation that the student has had a positive PCR test.

We have been advised by Environmental Health that, on this occasion, to minimise disruption, we can conduct class contact tracing for this positive case rather than isolating the whole year group. This means the students who were in the same classes as the student who tested positive will need to isolate and all other students may return to school.

Letters have been sent to relevant parents/carers.

Yours faithfully

Mr. D. Curtis

Headteacher/Pennaeth

Dear Parent/Carer,

We have, unfortunately, been notified this evening of a positive LFD test result in Year 8.

In line with guidance from Welsh Government, Environmental Health and Newport City Council, in the event of a positive case in a “contact group”, i.e. a year group, then all students in the year group must self-isolate. This means that students in Year 8 will now need to remain at home and self-isolate.

Please note - This is the result of a positive Lateral Flow Test (LFD). We are awaiting results from a PCR test to confirm the positive case. If this test comes back negative, all students in Year 8 will be able to return to school. We will notify you as soon as possible via the usual platforms.

The school remains open to all other students in Years 7, 9 and 12 including the LDC who are in a different contact group.

Yours faithfully

Mr. D. Curtis
