Right Track

This is a small group provision (4 students) for improving behaviour where students have been declassed regularly or had a fixed term exclusion. The programme is eight 1 hr sessions delivered by a trained TA. Years 7 - 11.

 

ELSA

 All ELSA attend regular update meetings with Ed Psych and local primary schools.  ELSA is one to one support in different areas: Social skills, emotions, bereavement, anger management, self-esteem and friendship.

Pupils supported by ELSAs are identified through the use of data and teacher referrals. During 2017-18, 16 pupils (4 FSM and 1 LAC) have received this intervention this year.

 

ELSA

6 Teaching Assistants across the school are ELSA trained (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant).

All staff have received training in aspects of wellbeing including Self Esteem, Emotions, Strong Feelings, Behaviour Modification and Attachment to provide a consistent approach. Emotional Literacy has been a focus of SDP. (16-17) and this has now been embedded.

 

Learning Coach

Students can access LC for support with subjects (or completion of additional quals). This can be small group or 1:1. Our LC works with may school refusers.

 

 

Silver Seal

33 Foundation Phase pupils (20 on the FSM register and 1 LAC) and 41 Key Stage Two pupils (19 on the FSM register and 2 LAC) attended Silver SEAL sessions. Children are identified by the class teachers as needing emotional/social support. Small group intervention (half termly) for children who need additional support in developing their social, emotional and behavioural skills.

 

Wellbeing Webs

Bespoke Indexes for efsm pupils or those considered vulnerable/disadvantaged. Completed by Class Teachers (N-Y6), indexes reference Literacy Skills, Numeracy Skills, Social, Experience and General Knowledge, Attitudes toward School, and Contribution to School Life. Thrive Indexes are used for provision and monitoring purposes.

ELSA

Nurture provision - one to one or small groups.  Both ELSA attend regular update meetings with Ed Psyc.  

 

Focus - Anger Management

This ia a 1:1 12 session programme (one hour) which helps students with anger management. HoH refer students to the IRC team.

 

Lego therapy

A group of three pupils (can be different ages) to work on building a lego structure. Different responsibilities are assigned to group members (typically these roles a”director”, ‘engineer’; ‘supplier’; and ‘builder’). The team works together to assemble the project with an emphasis on verbal and non-verbal communication, joint attention and task focus, collaborative problem-solving, sharing and turn-taking (switching roles during the task).

During 2017-18, 15 pupils (6 FSM and 1 LAC) have taken part in Lego Therapy sessions.

PASS

Online survey to assess Pupil Attitudes to Self and School. Completed by pupils in Year Groups 2-6 bi-annually.  

Small group work with “Quiet and Shy” - programme for six sessions over 3 weeks, with further sessions available depending on need of individuals concerned

 

School Refusers

Supported by our Welfare Officer, students (up to four) meet to discuss worries strategies etc. 1.5 hrs, for eight weeks based in community.

 

Wellbeing Toolkits x 2 to be used to upskill all staff in a series of twilights.

Prince William Award

Character, Leadership and Responsibility building Programme. Delivered to targeted pupils from Y5 cohort. 36 weeks duration. Pupils identified via PASS analysis, staff referral, Attendance data, and eFSM where appropriate.

Planned circle times for small groups covering  Well Being/PSWBCD which all children receive.  Focus on giving children the tools to be: Emotionally Literate (age appropriate); to understand and express their emotions; respond appropriately to their peers.

 

Every Day Counts

Again, for school refusers or poor attenders, groups (six students) work with Grade 5 TAs on a 12 week (30 mins) programme.

 

Wellbeing Warriors

Well-being Warriors to deliver games activities to children during play and lunchtimes.

Arrange parent session for ambassadors to share game ideas ‘Health at Home’

Pupil & Family Support Workers

Employed on a full time basis, FPSW’s offer support for a number of families across the school and are a key point of contact for multi agency referrals.

IRC Tutorial Group

Students who are unable to register in a mainstream form come to the IRC for tutorial - positive start to the day. Individual targets are set.

 

School Based Counsellor - External counsellor visits the school for one afternoon a week and works with 2 pupils over approximately 6-8 sessions.

A range of quality marks achieved; NACE Cymru Challenge Award; ASD Wales Award; SPLD Friendly Schools Award; Healthy Schools Award.

Busy Bags available on a range of Emotions - introduced in setting then available for parents to borrow.

 

COMIT

Groups of up to eight students have weekly sessions in Learning Support.

Nurture UK -  two year accreditation working on Nurture - introducing the Boxhall Profile.

For groups of four, 30 mins per week for eight weeks - emotional literacy / self esteem group.

Pupil participation groups including School Council, Pupil Leadership Team, VOICE, Wellbeing Warriors, SNAG, RAK pack, Digital Leaders and Digital Wizards. Meet regularly throughout the school year.

Pupil Learning Reviews

Facilitated by Class Teachers Y2-Y6. Pupils meet half termly to review and set metacognitive learning targets.

Umbrella Cymru

This is a support service for LGBTQ+ students. Referrals are made through the Welfare Coordinator.

Priders is the school’s own support group for LQBTQ+ students. Students from all backgrounds and preferences are welcome to attend.

 

 

REACH Behaviour Management System

A behaviour management system employed across the school to encourage pupil engagement.  

 

 

Unicorn Project

This is a bereavement support students for students who have lost family and friends. Referrals can be made through the Welfare Coordinator.

 

 

SHINE Curriculum

A creative holistic curriculum designed inline with Curriculum Reform.

A Mindfulness course for parents and children designed to boost happiness and alleviate stress.
